Following Melting Mama!

So as a blogger, I love to read other blogs and while reading one of my Favorites today, I saw that Melting Mama is having a GIVE-A-WAY for Click!!! Wahoo! Count me IN! Me want some of that! So, here is my post with the link as promised MM!

http://www.meltingmama.net/wls/2010/12/click-in-the-new-year-baby-its-5oclick-somewhere.html#more

Check her out, a wealth of knowledge and ranting! ;)

Here's what I've eaten so far today:

B: Same drink I had yesterday morning: SF, Vanilla International Coffee thing with a scoop of Vanilla Protein.

S: 4.5 oz Cottage Cheese with 4 frozen strawberries thawed (I added my UpCal D to this)

L: They bought us pizza today at work. I had a slice of cheese and blotted the top to absorb some of the extra grease.

S: Left over piece of Quesadilla I had last night for dinner with my family. I ate mostly just the inside. I think next time I will order the fajita's and just skip the tortilla. I still have half this sucker left!

Supper: For New Years Eve, we are going to my fathers and he's getting Chinese take-out. I will have beef and broccoli. I am bringing my scale to weigh out 4 oz of beef and I will have 4 or 5 broccoli pieces to up my veggies (I have had plenty of carbs today!)

S: I am thinking fruit-like a peeled apple. Not sure yet, will post later hopefully with picks of dinner.

I hope you all have a safe happy new year! Watch out for those crazy drivers if you go out. I know I will!

Edited to add:

Here's what I ended up having for supper (3 oz cheddar cheese, 6 crackers and 4 oz tomatoes with FF Catalina Dressing)

Happy Holidays!

I hope you all had a nice holiday and have something nice planned for New Years Eve. We may go to my fathers for the evening. Not sure yet.

Here's what I ate today:

Breakfast: 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, 3 tsp International Blends French Vanilla Cafe (sf, caf free) mixed with 1/2 cup milk and 8 ounces boiling water. Yummy!

Snack: Greek Yogurt and packet instant oatmeal (I couldn't finish the oatmeal)

Lunch: Leftover Prime rib (2 ounces), 2 ounces potato, 1/2 cup chopped tomato w/ff catalina dressing

Snack: 1 ounce peanuts and 1 ounce raisins

Supper: 3 ounces deli turkey, 1 slice american cheese, 2 tsp light Miracle whip on 100 calorie whole wheat arnold round. (had with 4 slices pickle rounds)

Last meal of the day: See pics! Yum yum!

I don't know what I was thinking making both halves as I can only eat one. I hate wasting food, but I am chucking the rest, no point in saving it, it will be soggy tomorrow.

I am so excited! I got a little money for Christmas and I used it to purchase CLICK! I am so excited to try it! I should have it by next week. Mmmmmm, mocha and vanilla heaven! I am already looking up recipes for it. I also purchased a 3 pack of the Torani SF Caramel syrup (since I went through the last one so quickly) and it was way less expensive that way. I bought them all on Amazon.

I also went to the Vitamin store today in Mass. They are the closest place that sells bariatric vits and you can try them. I was thinking about buying the Celebrate Calcium berries and creme, but they didn't have samples of that particular one and I loath the cherry tart (waaaaayy too tart!), so I bought two cans of upcal-d, which I will put in my morning protein drink, snack yogurt and after dinner drink. No more chalky chews!! I'm a happy girl!

Procrastination

Ok, I am a HUGE procrastinator. I have to shop for the Holiday TOMORROW. Yeah, I know, I'm NUTS. Just thought I'd let you all know that I am certifiable. Yup.

Moving on, the eggs I made last night for breakfast this morning were really good re-heated. I will definitely do that again. I couldn't finish them though. I will probably only have 1 egg instead of two next time.

Then I had ciobani for a snack, the cheesy chicken I mentioned yesterday and then for a snack this afternoon, I had three of the mini muffins (totally better when warm... Blech). Then I went bowling and had some kind of dizzy blood sugar drop, so I had two mozzarella sticks (normally, I would NOT ADVISE THIS). I was desperate. Say what you want, I am fine and I didn't dump.

Now, I am home feeling better and I made an egg sandwich for dinner:

1 egg (in a pan cooked with pam)
2 slices Canadian bacon
1 100 calorie bagel
1 tsp low fat Miracle Whip

It's good, I won't be able to finish it though.

Oh, and last night I made myself a chocolate covered almond hot chocolate. Yummy!

1 scoop chocolate protein
1/2 cup milk (I use 1%)
8 oz boiling water splenda
1 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tbsp SF Torani Almond Syrup

Mix (I use a fork) protein powder, cocoa and splenda in the milk. Once water is boiling, start to add it slowly. I add it one ounce at a time. Stir in between each ounce. Then, add the SF syrup. Top with whipped cream if you have some. Grrrr. I didn't have any. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. It was still good, just less pretty. Sigh.

Happy HOLIDAYS!

I know, I just posted, well....

I couldn't help myself. I was looking at http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com and she posted a recipe for Chocolate Protein Mini Muffins (of course hers have lovely toppings-I don't have any lying around), so I made them! Here they are:

Aren't they cute???? I think they are.

While I was waiting for them to bake, packed my bag for tomorrow!

I quickly made scrambled eggs with mushrooms and 1/4 cup Tomato Basil Feta cheese for breakfast (this is the first time I make them the day before-we shall see how they hold up to next day re-heating). I packed a Raspberry Ciobani for a snack and another 6 oz's of the Cheesy-I'm getting sick of this meal-Chicken. Sigh. But it's not gone yet. I am chucking the rest tomorrow. Blech. It's like when I have a chili over-dose. I make an awesome chili and then I am stuck eating it for days if my Fiance doesn't feel like having it. I should learn to freeze it. Sigh.

So, now I just have to pack an afternoon snack and I think it's going to be 3 Mini Protein Muffins and some sliced Cucumbers-because I seem to be lacking veggies. :(

Here's tomorrows porn:

Ok, I really am done now. Good night all!

Just checkin' in

Hello,
I haven't blogged in a few days because I have been eating almost the same thing everyday.

Breakfast: Butterfinger Protein Shake

Snack: Ciobani

Lunch: That cheesy chicken casserole I made Sunday. I ate 6 oz.

Snack: Cheddar Cheese stick and All Natural Apple Sauce

Supper (tonight): 2.4 oz Pork Chop, 1/2 cup mashed potato and 1/4 cup carrots

Snack: Tonight I'm thinking another shake. It's just so darn good!

So, since I am lacking food porn, I sincerely apologize! I will try to remember tomorrow, or I will take pics of my snack later.... We shall see!

Mmmmmmm mmm GOOD!

Today I made something new and exciting (to me). I was absolutely DYING for cheesy, chickeny, gooey, broccoli-like (I know, random, but true). So, I had this idea the other day after talking to a friend at work about a meal she makes that she tried for the first time in the crock pot. So, here it is (with pics to boot!):

2 cans Campbell's cheddar cheese soup
1 can water
1 package chicken tenders (I believe it was a big package-like 15 tenders)
1 and 1/2 tbsp Emerills Essence
1 package frozen broccoli
1/2 block New York Cheddar Cheese (cut into 1/2 inch cubes)
1 cup brown rice

In a slow cooker, combine all the ingredients together and stir well. Cook on low for minimum of 4 hours. Then you get this:

This is a 6 oz serving:

Other meals I had today included half a small Wendy's Chili and 1 and 1/2 slices french toast with sf syrup. I took a picture of the Wendy's chili, but you all know what that looks like and I am kicking myself for not taking a picture of the french toast because it was so pretty. But it was early and I was not awake yet. Eh, no biggie. There's always next time.

I also went to a British Tea today with some friends. It was delightful! We had little sandwiches and tea, there also were scones and some little deserts. The sandwiches were lovely. Little cucumber sandwich, chicken salad sandwich and ham and brie. I enjoyed one of each-they were approximately an ounce each, so they went down fine. I also had a scone because they were tiny. It was also lovely. If you have the chance to do one of these, I highly recommend it. The food is just the right size for us and a little of everything. It's also not rushed. So we can eat at our leisure. BONUS!

Alrighty, until tomorrow. Have a wonderful evening. :)

Interesting Day

Well, today was one of those challenges we face after the surgery. A Holiday Party. At work. You feel like everyone is watching you. They know you've lost weight (because they can see it, not because you've told them) and they want to see what you eat. Luckily, the surgery has made this easy for me. Now most people won't say the same. They still crave everything. The way I look at it, I've probably eaten thousands of cakes, pies, cups of pasta and potatoes. Not that pasta and potatoes are BAD, but they can be if you eat too much. At work today, we had a holiday party catered by a local restaurant. It was Italian. Here is what the options were and lets see if you would have chosen the same thing:

Salad with house dressing already on it
Sandwich sized rolls
Meatballs
Chicken Parm with Mozzarella
Pasta
Cupcakes
Soda

So, what did you pick?

I had about a half cup of the salad, a meatball and a small portion of the chicken and I barely touched it. I ate it really slow because I couldn't measure it and I didn't want to over do it. The meatballs were pretty big, probably 3 oz or so. I was comfortable and I will be honest, I didn't even miss the pasta (one of my old friends). Funny how our tastes can change.

Then we had a magician/comedian come and entertain us. He was HILARIOUS!!! I laughed so much I think I burned extra calories today. LOL

When I got home, I had my super (at 4:30) because I am going bowling tonight with my Fiance, my Dad, nephew and my sisters boyfriend. It's ME against the BOYS!!! I'm gonna kick their butts!!!! Muah ah ah ah!!!!

Back to my super, I used to love everything bagels. So, the other day I saw the new Bagel Thins they came out with in the everything flavor!!! Bonus! (Just a one time treat, I will get whole wheat next time). I toasted it and topped it with Ham, Provolone and Spicy Mustard. It was very delightful. Not the best thing I've ever eaten, but not bad either.

Here's a pic:

Edited to add;

For my last two meals of the day I had another Quadruple Chocolate Hot Chocolate and I added a tablespoon of SF Peppermint Torani Syrup. YUM! I drank that while I was bowling. Then, when I came home I had a Tortilla Pizza!

5 inch Tortilla
3 tbsp Sauce
1 ounce Shredded Pizza Cheese
1 tbsp bity pepperoni

I toast the tortilla in the conventional oven for 3 to 4 minutes prior to adding the toppings. Then I heat it for another 5 to 6 minutes (or basically until the toppings are nice and bubbly). And VOILA!!!

In Addition...

I had a boring super, just two meatballs. But my nighttime snack was AWESOME! I love me some chocolate. Especially hot chocolate. So, here is my substitute for it:

Quadruple Chocolate Hot Chocolate

4 oz 1% milk
1 scoop Chocolate Protein Mix
1 tbsp SF FF Chocolate pudding mix (dry)
1 tbsp Cocoa Powder
1 Packet 25 calorie Hot chocolate mix
8 oz boiling water

Mix the milk (cold) with the powdered ingredients really well. The cocoa powder may not integrate until you add the water. Slowly add the boiling water into the mixture stirring well. Top with Whipped Cream if you like. I also added two splenda and a scoop of UpCal D. I love getting my protein and calcium this way. It's delicious!

Enjoy!

Breakfast, Lunch and snacks

Hello all! Today I thought in advance and took pics of what I packed to bring to work today. I have breakfast, lunch and two snacks at work as I am there from 7 am to 3:30 pm. Today, I had an english muffin with peanut butter and sf preserves for breakfast at 7:10 am, Peach Ciobani for snack at 10:00 am, 1 cup homeade chili (from last night) with a sprinkle of cheddar cheese for lunch at 12:00 pm and 1 serving peanuts and all natural no sugar added apple sauce for a snack at 2:30. Here's the porn!

Gotta love it!

Sorry for being MIA. I have to tell you that I have been sick. Not surgery related (phew!). I had a (TMI ALERT) UTI and then, no less than a week later, I had a sinus infection. Needless to say, I have not been up to blogging although it is now one of my favorite things to do! :(

On a happy note, I have some food porn!!! Tee hee!

I made a kick butt chili tonight. Yum, yum, yummy! It is low fat and not only made me excessively happy, but my Fiance is gobbling up the last of it as we speak... Luckily, I already nabbed some for tomorrows lunch... I so sneaky.... LOL ;)

This is the mix I used and I added a can of red kidney beans. You can also add onions, peppers or whatever you like in it. I put a little shredded cheddar cheese on top. It was super tasty!

Edited to add:
My last meal o the day. I had a Butterfinger Protein Shake from the Bariatric Foodie blog. YUM YUM! You have got to try it!

WOOT WOOT! Awesome DINNER!

OMG! So I am sure all of you know who eggface is. She's that awesome blogger that posts fantastic WLS friendly recipies. I made one tonight. It was soooooo gooooodddd!

It's called Chili Renello Casserole (posted on March 16, 2008), it's easy, quick and so yummy my Fiance asked for a second slice and then sang the "Yummy, yummy, yumy, I've got love in my tummy" song. LOL, so cute (yes, you can all puke now). Here's the PORN!

So it's been a few weeks...

I am well. Just keep on truckin. I am now officially down 80 pounds and 2 pounds away from Onederland! *Let the joyful noise commence!* It has been over a decade people! A DECADE! I am so happy. Tonight for dinner I had a mini pizza (food porn to follow) and here's what I had for the rest of the day:

Breakfast: Atkins Milk Chocolate Shake
Snack: Ciobani Vanilla w/1/2 cup Kasji Go Lean
Lunch: 1/2 a Classy Italian wrap (lots of the wrap torn off)
Snack: The other half
Supper: Mini Pizza (small flour tortilla wrap topped with sauce, cheese and turkey pepperoni.

KK, ready for the PORN! Here it comes!!!!

Oh yeah! That's the stuff right there. Enjoy people! Muah!

3 Month Check-up

I saw my Surgeon today... well, the physicians assistant. Apparently he was present for the surgery. Cool with me, the more help for the surgeon, the better. He was really nice, asked how I was doing. I am great, IMO. No stomach issues, just the lactose thing, but I take Lactaid before cheese and what not, so it's not really a bother. I did forget to get my bloodwork done, so I am going this weekend and they will call me if anything looks off. I think it will be fine, I feel great, I am not kidding! No regrets!

Today was a fun food day for me, I had an awesome shake for breakfast:

PB&J Shake
1/4 cup Peanut flour (16 grams protein)
1 cup 1% milk
3 ice cubes
5 small frozen strawberries
2 tbsp sf Strawberry Torani Syrup
YUM!

For a snack, 2 wedges Laughing Cow cheese with some baked multigrain tortilla chips. Also yum!

For lunch, I had left over dinner from last night. For an afternoon snack, 1 sf Reese's PB Cup and 1 Ghiradelli dark chocolate square. Then, Dave and I went to his parents house for supper. Has Mom was celebrating her birthday, so she made proscuitto wrapped cod with Chicken Flavored Orzo. It was wonderful! I had my small amount. But I didn't take a picture, sorry, that's just rude at the dinner table. :)

Finally, to round out my day, I am having a that low sugar Apple and Cinnamon Oatmeal with the other half of the banana from yesterday. So, you can look at a pic of yesterdays breakfast if you want to see that.

I am watching Failure to Launch, what a cute movie. Gnight all!

Dietitian Day!

I went to see my dietitian today! She said I am doing great! I then went over vitamins with her because frankly, I am sick of mine. I bought a 3 month supply of calcium and multi vitamins prior to the surgery and I miss the Flintstones and Calcium Chews. There's a lot of discussion among WLS patients over whether or not Flintstones are appropriate (they lack selenium) and whether we absorb calcium carbonate. To be honest, I have been informed that since I take the calcium with meals, they will absorb whether they are citrate or carbonate and the surgeon checks my blood levels and would notice a deficiency, so I am not going to worry anymore, and I am going to save some money and by this stuff at the grocery store, not online where I have to pay for shipping and obscene amounts of money for special vitamins.

Moving on, I had some decent meals today... Wanna see???

Ok.

Breakfast: Yummy yummy yummy! I had low sugar apple and Cinnamon oatmeal (made with water) and half a sliced banana:

For a snack, I had the pepperoni chips again with a Mozzarella stick. For lunch I had the chili again that I had yesterday, only today I also had some steamed broccoli because I noticed my veggies were lacking.
For a snack, I had some of the cantaloupe I cut up last night and 4 oz ciobani vanilla yogurt (I add a packet of splenda to sweeten it a bit more).
Supper was ground beef sauteed with onions on top of 1/2 cup pasta mixed with pasta sauce and roasted zucchini. Roasted Zucchini is sooooo easy to make and by far my favorite way to eat veggies. I simply chop the veggies, toss in a little olive oil and garlic powder (not garlic salt!). Place on a pan and put in a 400 degree oven for 20 minutes turning halfway. Yum, and it makes the house smell good! Bonus!
On another note, I have been exercising like crazy! I joined Planet Fitness (I think I have mentioned this before) and man, I am tired. I try to do at least 45 mins a day, five days a week. My dietician says 30 mins a day, 5 days a week is good.
So, looks like I am doing well there.
Right now I am watching bones. Love Booth! Sigh, he's total beefcake.
What are you watching?

Gonna be a long one...

So, I got out of my nightly habit of posting, so I was careful to keep track today and take pics of what I have been eating. So, here's everything from today with the exception of my afternoon snack and dinner 9the pics didn't come out nice).
Breakfast was a Banana Protein Smoothie:
Snack was pepperoni chips and a mozzarella cheese stick (as you can see it's torn in half). This is the first time I tried the pepperoni this way and I gotta tell ya, it's awesome!!!! Nuke pepperoni for 45 seconds on a couple paper towels. Num, num, num!
For lunch I had 4 oz of my turkey chili with a wedge of Chipotle Cheese by Laughing Cow

Not pictured, I had 4 oz ciobani (vanilla) with 4 frozen strawberries, thawed and for dinner I had chicken with tom sauce and mozzarella and some steamed broccoli.
For a snack tonight, I had some melon and 2 cheese wedges. I have been craving cheese today. It's yummy!

I guess that's it for today. Night all!

Chicken Tonight

Today, I am very, very, very tired! I had trouble focusing a work. I am going to be hitting the sack early tonight folks.

Anyhow, here's what I ate today:
Breakfast: 1 egg scrambled with american cheese and tomato
Snack: 1/2 cup vanilla Ciobani, 1 packet splenda
Lunch: 1 cup Trader Joes Tomato soup mixed with 1 scoop unflavored Nectar and 1 slice chicken cold cut.
Snack: Canellini bean and Heirloom tomato salad (1/2 cup) with my version balsamic dressing.

Dinner: Chicken Tetrazzini (w/out peas because Dave doesn't like them). I used the recipe from Eggface's blog. Yum, yum, yummy!!! It was absolute heaven. I had it with some frozen spinach.
Snack: I will probably have a protein shake. We shall see what my lazy bum feels like doing in an hour or so.

Good night all!

Dentists are not scary!

Nope, but their drills are. I had a tooth break so I had to go to he dentist this afternoon. My dentist is really nice, very friendly and cares about the pain inflicted upon us when they drill holes into our teeth. He gave me some Novocaine and after ten minutes, I still felt sensitivity at the site of the illusive broken tooth, so I got more Novocaine. Yay (sarcastically). Not that I want to feel pain, but o me needing more Novocaine is not a good sign. Plus I loath needles. Anyways, it went fine. He had to take out the piece of the tooth that broke off and removed my original filling and replaced it with a medicated one. If it works out, I can get it replaced with a permanent one in 4 to six months. If not, I am looking at a root canal. AWESOME! So, I am sitting here now 5 and a half hours later and the Novocaine just wore off. It is sore, but not excruciating. We'll see how it's feeling in the am.

I know, why am I talking about my dental experience??? You didn't come here for that, right? Right, only I had to make some adjustments to my daily food intake today as I cannot chew comfortably at the moment. So, here's what I ate today pre-dental appointment:

Strawberry Kiwi Nectar drink: 1 scoop straw kiwi Nectar and 12 oz Vitamin Water Zero (mixed berry flavor)

1 egg, 1 slice American cheese and 1/2 whole wheat english muffin

1 cup wendy's chili with packet sour cream and packet saltines (and 1/2 whole wheat flat bread round)

Post dental appointment:

Trader Joe's Tomato soup with Roasted Red Pepper and 1 scoop unflavored Nectar

Pumpkin spice protein Shake:

1 scoop Vanilla shake mix

8 oz vanilla silk

1/4 cup canned pumpkin (just pumpkin, not the pie filling)

dash allspice and dash cinnamon

4 ice cubes

NOM, NOM, NOM!!!

Ok, so later I am having a cup of oatmeal with a few banana slices. Soft and easy going down, plus I definitely made my protein quota for the day... :) Go me!

I would normally try to have more veggies, but I need some soft foods, so I will add them back in tomorrow.

Anyone else LOVE the House of Night series? I just finished Chosen, and started Uninvited... These books are addictive!

Edited to add:

Here's a pic of my supper. I made old fahioned oats (1/2 cup) in 1 cup water, topped with sf maple syrup. Yummy. I could only eat about half.

Some random stuff

I went to update the look of my blog and noticed I have a really old picture up, and I cannot seem to add more, so I am going to here. This is a picture of me at my highest weight-280. Urgh, I never want to see that again!

Cringe!!!

And here is me two weeks ago:

I know, can't see too much of my new shape, but look at my face, big difference!! :)

Ok, that's really it for today.

Ah, jury duty....

I was called for jury duty. It started today and was well, lets face it, boring. We spent the day in a room waiting for something to happen and nothing did. No one was called at all... So, we get to go back tomorrow. We shall see. I did go to Whole Foods after and shopped for some things you can't find in my regular supermarket. I bought some coconut shavings (put in recipes from MY favorite blog to read-the world according to eggface), some tea I love, frozen peaches, some yummy cheese, and I hit up the warm bar for lunch and had a small bit of indian chicken something or other that ended up being incredibly spicy.

I just finished making faux fried zucchini and parmesan dip (from world according to eggface) and I loved it (as did my fiance-who just finished gobbling up the rest). This evening, I will make baked bruschetta by request of the fiance. I am thinking I won't have any as I have had some issues with cheese lately. I don't remember if I posted something about this yet, but it as been causeing some digestive issues lately. I hadn't had any in a while, due to some poor experiences, and yesterday I tried an ounce of munster. Let's just say it wasn't pretty. Eew and ouch.

So I don't know what I will have for dinner. Will possibly post it later.

Oh, and I am officially down 62 pounds. It feels incredible!!!!
How are you all doing that have had the surgery, too?

Edited to add:

What I had for dinner. Dave and I went out to lunch yesterday at TGIFridays. I had a right portion/right price meal. It's called Parmesan Crusted Chicken and it's about 4 oz chicken with crunchy parmesan topping (not breaded), tomatoes and mozzarella balls (the small one's and there were two cut in half) and 5 spinich and ricotta stuffed-yeah, stuffed (NOT) tortellini. I was glad there was only a little filling in the tortellini. I ate half there and the other half tonight. Apparently I did a great job eyeballing the meal because when I weighed what was left today, it was 2 oz chicken and 2 oz tortellini. I ate most of the tomatoes, I got full, so I stopped. But I ate my protein first!!!! Here's a horrible pic of it:

Well, that's all for today. Ciao!

Holy Crap Moment

Ok, maybe not too holy crap to some people, but I got on the scale today and I way 219 pounds! I am officially down 61 pounds! I have lost a small child. Holy CRAP!

Ok, moving on...
I am trying to continue with posting what I am putting into my mouth, so without further adieu:

Breakfast:
Egg (fried) with pam and 1 slice american cheese on 1/2 english muffin
Lunch:
3 oz Chicken (left over chicken marsala) with 1 oz potato (baked) and 5 green beans
Snack:
4 oz Ciobani vanilla yogurt and 1/4 cup frozen strawberries (also, 1 packet splenda mixed in)
Supper:
3 oz Chicken and 1/2 cup long grain wild rice
Snack:
2 deviled eggs (way to go protein!)

So, I am supposed to have 6 meals a day, as you can see that did not happen. Will try again tomorrow.
Peace!

Ho Hum

I am going to vent here. I am apparently one of those people that become lactose intolerant after surgery. Bye bye mini pizza's, bye bye cheese, bye bye milky protein shakes. Ok, I am done.

So I have planned my attack. I will sub milk for Silk for my shakes. I will have to avoid cheese (pouting). I can tolerate yogurt, which is good because it's a huge staple in my diet. I think tomorrow I will try yogurt in a protein shake with water... Hmm, I will experiment and get back to you.

I think I will start taking pics of food and posting what I am eating. For now, I will put what I have eaten so far today:

Breakfast: 1/2 cup south western eggbeaters

Snack: 4 oz vanilla ciobani, 3 sliced strawberries and drizzle sf caramel sauce

Lunch: Perdue Chicken Cutlet topped with Prego traditional pasta sauce

Snack: Peach fruit cup (no sugar added in it's own juice) and 3 small sf cookies.

Dinner, I don't know yet. I will update later... :)

Lil Update

I am happy to announce I am now down 44 pounds! YAY! This is the best thing I have ever done for myself, I highly reccomend it to people that want it and qualify.

So, I have been ok'd to have veggies, fruits and grains. I have been exploring many options and here is a short list of those I really love:

Half arnold round topped with tomato sauce or bruschetta and cheese toasted in the oven. Yummy mini pizza!

6 wheat thins topped with 3 oz cheddar cheese (28 gr prot!)

1 packet low sugar maple and brown sugar oatmeal

1/2 arnold round, deli mustard, honey ham (1 oz) and swiss cheese (1 oz)

chopped cucumbers (peeled and seeded) and chopped tomatoes topped with 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar and a splash of olive oil (you can add fresh mozzerella to this for protein)

Toasted arnold round with reduced fat peanut butter and sugar free strawberry preserves

So, that's a few of my favorite things... Until next time!

Urgh

Ok. It's about a month since I have had the surgery. I am never hungry. YAY! I am able to ge my water down (most days). Since the date of surgery, I am down 16 pounds. Since before the pre-op diet, I am down 34 pouds. Don't get me wrong, I am glad the weight is gone. However, I have stalled the last week and a half. Ok, I lost three pounds in the last week and a half. But, that was only after my time of the month (sorry for the tmi). Urgh. That's all I have today. Talk to you later.

Urgh

Hi All,
So, yesterday I found out exactly why they say to eat slow. I was drinking my protein shake of the afternoon and watching tv. Before I realized it, I had drank 8 oz in 15 mins just sipping! I was in soooooo much PAIN! We're only supposed to drink about 2 oz per 15 mins. My pouch was mad at me! I got up and walked around for about a half hour and paced. Finally about an hour later it subsided. Ouch, I will NEVER do that again!

I am home!

Ok, so I have been home for a few days now. I am doing really well. I lost the surgery weight already (everyone gains about 10 pounds from the surgery). YAY. So, now everything else is gravy. lol. I am still pretty tired, so I am going to keep this short. Later!

Monday, June 14, 2010

O M G!!

Whoa! One week people, ONE WEEK!!!!! AHHHHH. Ok random realization, had to share. ;)

Shake city

It's official. I am sick of shakes. Hate em. I guess it's because I was making them taste so good with milk and fruit that plain with H2O is just, well, almost unbearable. I heard on OH.com in some different threads that people try them with diet soda's, so tomorrow when I get paid, I am going to Walmart to buy some vanilla shake mix and diet orange soda. Hopefully this will taste like an orange creamsicle. We shall see. Now, if only I could find something to put in the chocolate shake mix and the strawberry. I use the torani sf syrups, but they are getting a bit old. I know, gonna be drinking them for a while, so I am trying to find new ways to drink em. Till another day. 11 Days to go! :) Can't wait!

Oy!

Ok, so I have been on the shake diet no for 4 whole days. I am down 7 pounds, so not too shabby, IMHO. Day two was the most difficult thus far. I will say though, I am not a fan of Bake sales and Pot Lucks at work solely because my desk is literally in front of the table they put everything on. I know, ask to move, right? No, I like my desk and the people I sit near. I will tell you I never realized how strong I can be. I didn't stray from my diet at ALL! I am so proud of myself. I really am. WOOHOO! Ok, I will check in again soon. Down to 17 days. :)

Ok, so we're down to 19 days and counting. I am such a weirdo, I started my Pre-op diet three weeks before the surgery instead of two. I am doing ok with it, but I get really hungry right after walking, so I make sure I have one of my three shakes right after. I basically have three protein shakes a day and one lean cuisine meal. Plus the vitamins and I am walking 1 mile a day. At least. Sometimes, I do two. So, on the food spectrum, everything is pretty boring right now and will be for a while, but I can't wait to start experimenting once I start phase 4. :) Right now I am looking forward to loosing weight! I will check in again soon.

Sugery Date

Today is a great day! I got my surgery date, which is five weeks from tomorrow. June 22, 2010 and I have to be there at 8 am. Pre admission testing is on June 8, 2010 at 12, so I am trying to use a half day for that. I don't want to have to make up the time. It's hard to concentrate at work now, never mind with only two weeks to go! Ha, forget it!

I am trying to decide which protein powder to buy for the two weeks before and then after, so I am going to call the nutritionist tomorrow to set up an appointment. I want to make sure it's ok to use my sf syrups in them during the two weeks prior diet (because I know surgeries can be particular with what is eaten prior)... Plus, I am sure there are protein shakes that are good, maybe she'll know which ones... I hope!

Well, that's all for now, have a great day!

Tomorrow... YAY

So tomorrow I have my Dr appointment... I am very excited. I am down about ten pounds since my last weigh in, which is sooooo awesome! I got my Torani SF syrups in the mail today and lemme tell ya, these things make the shakes drinkable! I had a shake today that tasted very close to a peanut butter cup. I used 8 oz 1% milk, 4 ice cubes, 1 scoop protein powder, 1 tablespoon all natural peanut butter, and 1 tablespoon of both the SF Peanut Butter and Chocolate syrups. Yum, yum, yum! It was very healthy and filling to boot. I am definitely having that one again.

Anyhow, back to the Dr appointment and away from food talk. I am hoping (praying and pleading) to get my surgery date tomorrow and I hope it's soon. I have been working so hard to get this and I am really excited. I am sure that I will have the after surgery depression that some have (Why did I rearrange my all natural wiring?), but I am looking forward to saving my own life (or the Dr saving my own life...). I did come up with a few more of those reasons I am having the surgery (there are many in ase you didn't guess). Here are the additions:

I am insanely close to getting diabetes.
Avoiding triple bypass.. That would be AWESOME to skip, thank you!
Not being asked when I'm due... With the BABY?
Tank tops and t-shirts!
Shorts!

So, I am sure I will add more, yet again...

That's all for now!

The beginning...

So, this is the beginning. I have been approved for the Roux en Y surgery. FINALLY! I have wonderful insurance (and I do sincerely mean that), however, it has taken me a lot longer than most to get to this point. I have several friends that have had the surgery and they did their appointments and had the surgery within 3 months. I started my journey almost a year ago... Yeah, that's right, a YEAR ago! With the insurance I have through work, it is required to have six months of weigh in's with my PCP and six months of seeing a nutritionist. This is not all... You cannot skip a month, and you must go to each every month back to back. I did, without fail, do this. I do believe that you should be able to test out of the nutritionist part as even my nutritionist said I have a great grasp on it. When I finished I had gone to all of my other appointments except for the psych eval... Yeah, I didn't realize that this was an all day affair that then would take them 3 weeks to send to the surgeons office (they MUST have everything to present to the ins co. Otherwise, they deny right away. So, of course, this is another obsticle that pro-longed my aggrevation... :) Finally, I was approved on April 22, 2010 (four days after my 30th birthday). YAY! Then I thought, hey! I have to stop taking my bc pills! OMG! What if I am scheduled for surgery and haven't stopped taking them in time? They will bump me! NOOOOOO! So I stopped. Yeah, a month ago now. Now that I think of it, that was kinda stupid because I don't know when my date will be and I am sure the surgeon is on top of that. Now no sex for a while. WAAAAHHH! Sniff. I am ok. Sigh. The man, bless him, has been really supportive and understanding. I am an idiot. If I don't get booked for surgery for like 3 months, I am going back on it.

I made my second appointment with the surgeon (which is this week-Thursday!!! I am so excited!) and the wonderul woman that has been working with me from the office said that I MIGHT find out a surgery date when I see the Surgeon at that appointment. Urgh.

To top it off, now I am thinking, OMG! What if there's a waiting list???? What if I am placed on a waiting list until next year???? So this is my panic right now... How much longer do I have to wait???? GAAAAH!

Meanwhile, I do have some wonderful friends that have been helping me with some new recipes (Thanks Nan and Erica!) and I have been reading the World According to Eggface (an inspirational blogger!), trying to tweak the shakes. I have an issue with after taste, but the recipes I have been given are much better (I actually enjoy them now!). I love to take 8 oz milk (1%), 4 ice cubes, 4 large frozen stawberries, 1 scoop chocolate protein shake mix and a tsp of vanilla extract and blur in the blender! So yummy! Then of course through Eggface, I have been adding a spritz (small puff) of sf whipped cream. REALLY good. I actually passed up a muffin from my fav joint today to have a shake. So you know this is good. Try it, you'll love it. I am also down a few 6 pounds since two weeks ago, not too shabby!

Now, I am going to follow the advice of a very wise person and list the things I won't miss after surgery:

Sweating when it hits 70 degrees.
Heart burn-BAAAD heart burn
Asthma (apparently it may get better, I will keep you posted).
High cholesterol.
Being a fat auntie (he doesn't call me fat, I feel this way when I try to play with him and get tired real quick)
Not fitting on carnival or theme park rides (soooo embarrassing)
Not fitting in chairs
Chub rub
Shopping at basically one store.
Looking like I am pregnant (so not)
Being able to wear t-shirts or tanks without getting looked at (not in a good way).
Swollen Feet
Swollen Knees
Flat feet (won't heal with surgery but I will be lighter on my feet)
Chaffing (not to be confused with chub rub)
Fibroid tumors (side affect of obesity)

I will add more in the future, but this is a brief list. I am sure I will wake up in the middle of the night and think of more...
So, I will keep you in the loop when I have my appointment this week.
